Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri, Inc., a designated 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is a member of National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC) whose national headquarters is located in St. Louis, MO. There are currently 57 affiliated garden clubs with 1389 members in Missouri. Every member of a Federated Garden Club in Missouri is by default also a member of FGCM.
FGCM was officially organized on March 30, 1933, in St. Louis, by representatives of nine clubs from various sections of Missouri. The state is divided into 8 geographic districts.
Mission Statement
The Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri, Inc. inspires and unites individuals and garden clubs across the state to promote excellence in gardening, horticulture, floral and landscape design, and environmental stewardship. Through education, conservation, civic engagement, and collaborative partnerships, we cultivate beautiful communities, protect natural resources, and encourage a lifelong appreciation for the value of gardens and the natural world.
Objectives
The objectives of the Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri, Inc. are to:
Operate as a nonprofit organization dedicated to civic purposes.
Maintain membership in and support the mission and objectives of the National Garden Clubs, Inc.
Promote the art and science of gardening, floral design, landscape design, horticulture, and environmental stewardship.
Coordinate and strengthen the interests of garden clubs throughout the state by fostering collaboration, communication, and mutual support through association, conferences, and correspondence.
Encourage the protection and conservation of natural resources, preserve and enhance civic beauty, and promote the improvement of roadsides, parks, and other public spaces.
Cooperate with organizations and agencies that advance the interests of horticulture, conservation, and environmental responsibility.
Ensure that the corporation operates exclusively for nonprofit civic purposes and is not used for private gain. No assets or property of the corporation shall benefit any individual member or special interest group or be used for purposes other than those stated in Objective 1.
